About the museum
The Munktellmuseum, located in Munktellstaden, has been where it is currently located since 1991. Bengt Ohlin, former manager of information, as well as Jarl Hellicius, former manager of staff, were the two people who first opened it up at 1 700 m².
Today, the collections consist of approximately 200 objects of which about 90 are available to see in the museum. The total exhibition space today is around 5 000 m². A large amount of the veteran machines were already in the company’s possession before the museum was founded.
In addition to the exhibition areas, there is also a workshop for reparations and an auditorium with a capacity of 100 people. We also provide the possibility to arrange everything from conferences to dinners and different company activities in the locales. There is a capacity of 350 dinner guests. The museum restaurant kitchen will provide everything foodwise.
The facilities in which the museum is now located were previously areas for engine testing, construction and machine processing.
In the museum, 5 different product types are shown.
The museum is part of and/or cooperate with, among others, Arbetslivsmuseerna, Företagens arkiv I Sörmland, Intresseföreningen Förstlingen, Vägverkets museum in both Eskilstuna and Borlänge and of course with Volvo Construction Equipment. A cooperation with Julita lantbruksmuseum was also established in 2007.
